Solipsistic Connections in Sports History

Hank Aaron hit home run #715 to break Babe Ruth's career record on the day I was born, April 8, 1974. Exactly two decades later, Wayne Gretzky scored goal #802 to break Gordie Howe's career record on the twentieth anniversary of my birth, April 8, 1994.

For such a stickler, I can't believe you let slip the notion that your date of birth and your twentieth birthday occurred on the exact same day.

I mention this out of respect, you understand.

Crap. And you know what the funny thing is? When I was trying to unscramble his messed-up little self-profile, I was just making fun of the second guy in this other post for apparently assuming that he was age one when he was born, not age zero. Now I go and do it myself!

Anyway, thanks for pointing that out. I'd better fix it.

Did you also notice that I originally wrote that April 8, 1974 was exactly two decades after April 8, 1974? That's just plain a priori false. Maybe this one ought to have been the post called Demonstrably Incorrect Connections in Sports History.

And maybe I should just call it a day and go to bed before I tip a Coke machine over on myself or something.
