Sucking eggs
I don't want to be too mean, because he's apparently a friend of a friend, but I must say that Metro contributor Ian Nathanson's mugshot for his "Sound Check" column (seen at right) looks like Humpty Dumpty receiving a blowjob.
In which the author explains why you're not capable of properly managing your own affairs and directs you how to behave more acceptably.

Thank you for noticing, whoever you are. If you mean to make such a comment in jest, that's fine -- I take pride in being a clown.
But if that photo image only warrants you to make what could be construed as a derogatory remark, that's pretty shallow-minded commentary if you ask me.
Don't get me wrong -- I like your music writing. You're certainly no Sandy Garcia, and I have nothing against you.
It's just that the photo is a sillyt pose. It's a little too ecstatic, and makes you look a little round, especially given the shaved head.
(Note: This pose would be equally unflattering to me. In fact, I'd probably look worse. I'm incredibly unphotogenic. Or possibly just ugly and I only notice this in photos.)
Problem is people who know me know I hate serious mug shots. And while this may not present me in the most photogenic light, it's there — under editorial approval, no less — to present me as someone who likes music but really can't stand all the mainstream b.s. that passes for music these days. Music that's enjoyable should make you act like Humpty Dumpty receiving a blowjob -- to me that's acceptable. Yes, it goes against your header: "In which the author explains why you're not capable of properly managing your own affairs and directs you how to behave more acceptably." But I've seen what passes for acceptable, and I don't accept it. Hence the clown mugshot. If that makes any sense ...
Alas, at a site named as this one is, a self-admitted clown such as you must of course expect a certain degree of antagonism. Nevertheless, your point is well argued and well taken.
I actually feel (gulp) honoured for being mocked and antagonized. Builds character. It's been a while ... hence the opening comment, a bad non-caffeine day, I admit ... though I have yet to reach the heights of a co-writer of mine (see www.eye.net/blog for whole sites devoted to said writer).
A couple of friends of mine (Sofi, Foobstin) have posted copious comments to the Garcia blog. I'm surprised I never felt the urge to chime in, but after the comment that brilliantly compared her to the Onion's Jean Teasdale, what more was there to add?
